The coin’s obverse depicts a Native American man. The designer, James Earle Fraser, said he created this image as a mixture of the features of three chiefs from different American Indian tribes.
The coins reverse features an American Buffalo along with the Moto: E PLURIBUS UNUM which is Latin for ‘One out of Many’. This motto is famous to Americans and can be found on the national seal.
